Sericine

Sericins are proteins from the silk moth Bombyx mori . They are a component of silk and serve as adhesive proteins on the fiber protein fibroin . Homologues occur in various silk spiders and weaving spiders .

Three different sericins are formed in B. mori . They serve to bond the silk fibers during silk secretion . Sericine be in the middle section of the silk gland formed.
