Serug

Serug ( Hebrew שְׂרוּג, "Branch", ancient Greek Σερούχ ) is a man mentioned by name in the Old Testament .

Biblical report

Serug, the son of Regus , was according to Gen 11: 20–23  EU 30 years old when he fathered Nahor , the grandfather of Abraham . Accordingly, Serug was the great-grandfather of the patriarch . It is also reported how he lived for 200 years afterwards, fathered sons and daughters and died at the age of 230.

Mention in the anniversaries

In the jubilee book , his mother's name is given as Ora (11.1). After this Serug was originally called Saroch and was only later renamed Serug. His wife is called Milka (11.7). Finally, it is reported that Serug was the first of the ancestors of Abraham to worship idols.
