Westfalenpark chairlift
The chairlift of the Westfalenpark is a detachable monocable gondola in the Westfalenpark in Dortmund .
history
In 1959, the cable car was built and put into operation by the Pohlig company on the occasion of the first Federal Garden Show in Dortmund . It is a gondola lift with open gondolas that have two seats facing each other. It is therefore also known as a chairlift. Until 1998 it ran in the summer season and enjoyed great popularity. At the end of 1998 operations were closed for financial reasons. In 2002, the TÜV accepted the system and found only minor defects. Thereafter, the Intamin company leased the facility on condition that the city of Dortmund adequately supported the project.
