Setoka ( せ と か ) is a seedless and very sweet Japanese citrus fruit that is a crossed hybrid of Murcott and Kuchinotsu No. 37 - the hybrid of Kiyomi and Encore No. 2. On April 9, 1998 it was registered as "Tangor Nōrin No. 8" under the number 9398 in the Japanese variety register and is thus a protected variety in the decree on seeds of 2001. The protection will be valid until October 2026.
Variety description
A typical flattened fruit weighs 200 to 280 g. It is thin-skinned, soft and easy to peel. Their taste is sweet, aromatic and resembles that of Murcott. The fruits ripen in February and contain no or up to five seeds. Setoka are very cute. The sugar content is 12 to 13 degrees Brix . The low citric acid content is 0.8 to 1.0%.
