The Shōnan Monorail ( Japanese 湘南 モ ノ レ ー ル , Shōnan Monorēru ) from the company of the same name is a suspension railway in the Japanese city of Kamakura built according to the SAFEGE system . The train was after a test in Yokohama was successful after two years on March 7, 1970 opened. The train consists only of the Enoshima line.
Route
The train initially ran between the Ōfuna station and the Nishi-Kamakura terminus . The last section to the station Shōnan- Enoshima the 6.6 km long railway was put into operation on July 2 1,971th The train has a total of eight stops . Partnership with Wuppertal
In the summer of 2018 a suspension railway partnership was created with the Wuppertal suspension railway . Here the train 5603/5604 was provided with an advertisement. The Wuppertal carriage 01, a train from the latest generation 15, bears the same advertising .
