Shadow Lady is a manga series by the Japanese artist Masakazu Katsura , which was published in Japan from 1993.

Shy girl Aimi Komori is a waitress in a cafe in Gray City and is in love with the inventor and policeman Bright Honda. One day little Oni De-Mo comes from the world of demons and gives her his magical eye shadow. With this she turns into the cat thief Shadow Lady . When she was there, she committed crimes in the city while she continued her job during the day. De-Mo accompanies them, mostly in human form, in which he pretends to be her brother.

Shadow Lady is soon being hunted by the city police, particularly Inspector Dory. Bright Honda also sets out on his own to capture Shadow Lady and use her powers for justice. His former partner Lime Hosokawa, with whom he previously presented inventions, has similar goals and turns into Spark Girl through her inventions . However, Shadow Lady can always outsmart the police and Spark Girl. Ultimately, Honda realizes that he is chasing Shadow Lady because he fell in love with her.

The manga was in 1993 in the magazine V-Jump the publisher Shueisha published after a break then from 1995 in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump . The individual chapters have been summarized in a total of three edited volumes.

The manga was published in English by Dark Horse Comics , in French by Tonkam and in Italian by Star Comics . The Spanish translation was published in Mexico by Grupo Editorial Vid and in Spain by Norma Editorial and Planeta DeAgostini Comics .

The publisher Carlsen Comics from January 2009, all three volumes were published in German.

Another world

Katsura published a short manga for Shadow Lady with the title Another World , which is set in an alternative story universe.

The student Aimi Komori is in love with the exchange student Bright Honda. To give her self-confidence, her grandmother gives her the magical eye shadow and breathes life into one of her dolls. The doll becomes De-Mo. Finally, Aimi as Shadow Lady catches a jewel thief, which makes Bright fall in love with her.
