Shahram Rostami (born June 7, 1948 in Ardabil , listen ? / I PersianAudio file / audio sample شهرام رستمی[ Ʃæhɾɑm ɛ ɾostæmi ]) is a former Iranian ace in the Iranian Air Force (IRIAF). Rostami joined the Imperial Iranian Air Force (IIAF) and continued with the Air Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRIAF). Rostami became famous in Iran as a fighter pilot of F-14 Tomcat fighter jets. During the First Gulf War , the major had six confirmed kills of Iraqi fighter jets . These include one MiG-21 , two MiG-25 , three Dassault Mirage F1 . Rostami was later promoted to Brigadier General and Chief of the Iranian Air Force.

He served in the above Armed Forces from 1967 to 2007.
