Shanfulu

The book Shanfulu ( Chinese  膳夫 录  - " Chef's Record ") was written by Zhang Wangzhi郑 望 之 during the Song Dynasty. It includes a volume ( juan ). In the ancient Chinese book collection Shuofu (说 郛) it is said that Zhang Wangzhi 郑 望 之 is the author, the Gujin tushu jicheng (古今 图书 集成) says that this is Zhang Wang (郑 望).

Some authors believe the book dates back to the Tang Dynasty .

This book is dedicated to the same topics as the Shanfu jingshoulu (膳夫 经手 录; "Chef's Handbook") by Yang Ye (杨 晔) from the year 856 of the Tang Dynasty .

The work presented here also contains anecdotes about the culinary arts as well as food and drinks from the Tang and Song times. It is an important source on the history of Chinese food and drink culture.

Old prints and modern editions

The book is contained in the ancient Chinese book collections Shuofu (说 郛) and Gujin tushu jicheng (古今 图书 集成). It is easily accessible in the first volume of the Japanese series Chugoku shokkei sosho and in the series Zhongguo pengren guji congkan .
