Shantarakshita

Shantarakshita ( Tib . : zhi ba 'tsho pronounced: shi-wa tso; guardian of peace ; * 8th century ) was one of the most important philosophers of Indian and Tibetan Buddhism . He was invited to Tibet at the time of King Thrisong Detsen and founded Samye , Tibet's first Buddhist monastery, together with Padmasambhava , of which he became abbot. The most famous literary work of Shantarakshita is his basic work of the Yogachara Madhyamika school Madhyamakalamkara ("jewelry of the middle [teaching]"), in which the Yogachara system of Asanga and the Madhyamaka philosophy of Nagarjuna are combined.
