Shawan Jabarin

Shawan Jabarin ( Arabic شعوان جبارين, DMG Šaʿwān Ǧabārīn ; * 1960 in Sa'ir , West Bank ) is a Palestinian human rights activist.

In the 1980s he studied at the University of Bir Zait , where he has also been teaching since 2010. He is chairman of the Ramallah- based human rights organization al-Haq and a member of the Human Rights Watch Advisory Board for the Middle East and North Africa. Since 2006, Israel has imposed a travel ban on Jabarin, so that in 2009 he was unable to receive the Geuzenpenning Prize in Denmark.
