Shea Seger (born 1979 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American singer.

Seger grew up in the small Texas town of Quitman . She started playing the piano at the age of two and wrote her first songs as a teenager. After finishing school, she took up singing and acting training in Virginia Beach .

In 1998 Seger moved to London . There she met producer Martin Terefe and songwriter Nick Whitecross . Together with them, they created their debut album The May Street Project in 2000 . The second single from the album hit the UK singles charts. But even she did not bring her the necessary attention and so she put her music career on hold.

In the following years she married, had a daughter and eventually returned to her native Texas. It wasn't until July 2010 that she started a new attempt with her second album, named after herself.
