Sherilyn Fritz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sherilyn Claire Fritz is a climate scientist . She holds the George Holmes University Professorship in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln .

Life

Fritz received his PhD in ecology from the University of Minnesota . She now works in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln .

Act

Fritz conducts research at the interface between geology , ecology and atmospheric sciences , with a particular focus on the interaction of lakes with the atmosphere and the land surface. Here she applies the diatom analysis to questions of environmental change.

Fritz assumes that initiatives like the Paris Agreement to curb the effects of man-made global warming arenowhere near enough,” but she is optimistic that the critical mass required to solve the problem can slowly be created.

In 2014 Fritz received the Hans Oeschger Medal “for her outstanding contribution to the reconstruction and understanding of past droughts in North America, past hydrological changes in tropical and temperate areas due to lake sediments, and for her thorough approach to deciphering natural climate impacts caused by humans landscape changes caused ”.
