Sherlock Yack - Der Zoodetektiv ( French: Sherlock Yack - Zoo-Détectiv ) is a Franco-German animated series based on the children's book series of the same name written by Michel Amelin and Colonel Moutarde . The series produced in 2011 has so far consisted of a season with 52 episodes. The first German broadcast was on KiKA .

content

Sherlock Yack is both director and detective of a zoo inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. If a crime takes place, he immediately sets off with his young assistant Hermione to solve the case. Usually there are three suspects, but in some cases there is a fourth. If all the facts are together, Sherlock tells the viewer again the course of the crime and shows the suspects before he exposes the culprit. Murders and firearms do not appear in the series, however, the exception is the suction cup pistol from episode 33, the convicted perpetrator does not go to jail, but has to do some work, but sometimes Sherlock lets the perpetrator get away with impunity.

main characters

Sherlock Yack: Sherlock is a yak who can look back on a long training in a lama monastery . Although he is often distracted by trivialities, he is always highly concentrated and knows that every little thing can be useful in clearing up a case. He plays the bagpipes , which was a gift from his old teacher, the vulture Abracadaverus.

Hermione: Sherlock's assistant is a young ermine who supports him as best she can with his cases. Hermione is intrigued by gadgets and often tries to convince Sherlock that his old methods are out of date. She can't stand his bagpipes and she doesn't like mess. Unlike Sherlock, Hermione can also drive a car and a few zoo residents like the piranha seem to be in love with her and treat her with presents.

Recurring elements

  • In each episode, Sherlock remembers lessons from his master Abracadaverus.
  • If there is an injured person in a case, the zoo doctor Dr. Schnabelmann returns a diagnosis that sounds incomprehensible, which he then has to translate rather clumsily.
  • The beaver that lives in the zoo suffers from fear of heights, which in many cases is an important detail.
  • After the facts are put together, a short scene is shown that has to do with Sherlock's problems in the episode in question.
  • With the exception of Sherlock, Hermione, Dr. Schnabelmann, Ms. Hipplinger ( hippopotamus ), Ms. Fuchsberger ( Fennek ) and Squieki Gonzales ( bat ) are all addressed by their name rather than their first name.
