Shigeo Hirose

Shigeo Hirose ( Japanese 広 瀬 茂 男 , Hirose Shigeo ; * 1947 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese inventor .

Life

Hirose attended Hibiya High School and graduated from Yokohama State University in 1971 . As a university professor, he teaches robotics at the Tōkyō Kōgyō Daigaku . In 1972 Hirose was the first in the world to develop a snake robot . He developed other robots that can climb up and down mountain slopes. In particular, he devoted himself to a UN project in the context of which robots were developed to rescue landmines .
