Shika-wakashu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shika-Wakashū ( jap. 詞花和歌集 also: 詞花集 Shikashū , literally collection of poetic flowers ) is a Waka - anthology from the late Heian period of Japan , which was compiled from 1151 to 1154.

The anthology was compiled by Fujiwara no Akisuke (1090-1155) on the orders of Tennō Sutoku (1119–1164), who had already been replaced . The anthology comprises 10 roles with a total of 411 waka. Because of Toshiyori's free and inventive style, the Tennō rejected the first two designs. Of all the waka anthologies compiled on the orders of the Tennō, the Shika Wakashū is the shortest.
