The Shilshole Bay is the part of Puget Sound in Seattle in the State of Washington east of a line between the West Point in the district in the southwest of Magnolia and Golden Gardens Park in Ballard district in the northeast. Discovery Park , the Lawton Wood part of Magnolia and the Ballard district with Golden Gardens Park lie on its banks . Shilshole Bay has a marina on Ballard's Seaview Avenue NW ; The bay is connected to the Lake Washington Ship Canal via Ballard Locks .
The name is derived from a word of the Duwamish Indians meaning "threading a needle", which perhaps refers to the narrow opening between Salmon Bay and Shilshole Bay.
