The Shōin University ( Japanese 松蔭 大学 Shōin Daigaku ) is a private university in Kanagawa Prefecture , Japan. It was founded in 1941 under the name Shōin Women's Academy ( 松蔭 女 学校 , Shōin Jogakkō ), achieved university status as a Shōnan Women's University ( 松蔭 女子 大学 , Shōin Joshi Daigaku ) in 2000 and received it in 2004 when it switched to a co-educational institution today's name.

The university is spread over seven locations:

  • Atsugi -Morinosato (main campus)
  • Atsugi Station (Campus)
  • Shōnan (Campus)
  • Shimokitazawa (Campus)
  • Kitazawa Station (outside campus)
