Shoutbox
A shoutbox ( SB ), a tagboard or an electronic pin board is a small area on (mostly private) websites that acts as a kind of mini guest book and thus closes the gap between the guest book / forum and a real chat .
A shoutbox is usually integrated into a small area of the website and regularly reloaded in order to be able to display newly added content, so that quick-reacting communication is possible. The web browser does not need to display any active content such as Java applets or JavaScripts for basic functionality .
