The Shronebirrane stone circle

Shronebirrane is a stone circle of the Cork-Kerry series of the Recumbent Stone Circle (RSC) type, as it occurs frequently in the south-west of Ireland and in Scotland . It is at the end of a narrow road near Lauragh in the Drimminboy Valley in County Kerry , Ireland.

The Irish RSC stone circles are much smaller than the Scottish ones. They originated around 1800 BC. Originally there were 13 stones in the stone circle , but now four are missing and two have fallen over. One of the stones in the northeast reaches a height of about 2.6 m. The "lying stone" in the southwest is 2.1 m long and 0.7 m high.
