The Shuswap Lake is a lake in South Central British Columbia in Canada . It is drained over the Little River to Little Shuswap Lake . Its outflow forms the South Thompson River , a source river of the Thompson River , a tributary of the Fraser River .
The lake forms the heart of a region known as " Shuswap Country " or "the Shuswap". The region is known for its lakeside resorts, including Salmon Arm . The name "Shuswap" is derived from the First Nation peoples of the Shuswap or Secwepemc , who belong to the northernmost of the Interior Salish peoples and whose territories included the region around Shuswap Lake.

In the southwest, the Salmon River flows into the Salmon Arm. The Eagle River flows from Eagle Pass in the Monashee Mountains to the lake and flows into it in the east near Sicamous .
