Sibi Malayil ( Malayalam : സിബി മലയിൽ ; born May 2, 1956 in Alappuzha , Kerala ) is an Indian director of the Malayalam film .

Life

He began in the early 1980s as an assistant in Appachan's Navodaya Studio , where he assisted directors Fazil and Priyadarshan , among others . In 1986 Sibi Malayil made his directorial debut with the film Chekkaran Oru Chilla . Until the 1990s he made a name for himself with sentimental film dramas. AK Lohithadas wrote many of his scripts . Malayil's best-known films include Dasharatham (1989), Kireedam (1989), His Highness Abdullah (1990), Bharatham (1991) and Kamalatham (1992). At Manichithratharazu(1993) he was one of the four directors involved. The Tamil remake, The Ghostbusters, was made from this film two years later .

Malayil has received three National Film Awards and several Kerala State Film Awards for his films .
