The directive on safety advisers (Directive 96/35 / EC of the Council on the appointment and professional qualification of safety advisors for the transport of dangerous goods by road, rail or inland waterways) of June 3, 1996 meant that the German Ordinance on Hazardous Goods had to be adapted several times. In addition, since 2003 in the European Agreement on the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road ( ADR ), the regulations for the safety advisor have been listed for all contracting states under Chapter 1.8 , so that the appointment of a dangerous goods officer also applies.

Directive 96/35 / EC was repealed on June 29, 2009 by Directive 2008/68 / EC .
