The Ordinance on Hazardous Goods Officers (GbV) issued by the Federal Minister for Transport, Building and Urban Development regulates, among other things, the appointment of hazardous goods officers as well as their monitoring obligations and the training of authorized and other responsible persons. In addition, the EU Safety Advisor Directive was implemented with the GbV .

Tasks and duties of the dangerous goods officer

The dangerous goods officer, under the responsibility of the entrepreneur or owner of a company, has the main task of looking for ways and means within the scope of the activity of the company or company concerned and initiating measures that ensure compliance with the regulations for the transport of dangerous goods for the respective mode of transport facilitate. Due to his function, he has no authority to issue instructions. Rather, he is an “advisor” to the entrepreneur. He also monitors all processes associated with the handling of dangerous goods transport . According to § 8 GbV he is obliged to keep records and to prepare an annual report .
