Security integrity

According to Part 4 of EN 61508, safety integrity refers to the effectiveness of the safety functions of a safety-related system under the requirements. It is documented in the safety case .

To protection functions to be classified in terms of their safety integrity are safety integrity level used.

The level of safety integrity must be determined in such a way that the frequency of dangerous incidents due to failure of the safety-related systems is so low that the risk does not exceed the limit set as tolerable ( tolerable hazard rate , see risk management ).
