Sid the Science Kid is an American animated television series . It was first broadcast on September 1, 2007 on PBS Kids (USA) and Children's Independent Television.

action

The main character in the series is Sid, a "curious young man" who studies questions that children have about basic science and why things work the way they do. He tries to answer questions and solve problems with the help of his classmates (May, Gerald and Gabriela), the teacher Susie and his family (his mother Alice, his father Mort, his grandmother Rose and his little brother Zeke).

Sid's conceptual content is based on national science learning standards, cognitive learning theory, and the science curriculum for preschoolers, Preschool Pathways to Science.

Each week's episodes revolved around a single scientific topic or concept. The first week (Episodes 1-5) focused on scientific tools and concepts, such as graphing, observation, estimation, and measurements. The second week (Episodes 6-10) focused on change and transformation, including decay, growth, freezing and melting, and the effects of heat. The third week (episodes 11-15) dealt with the human senses. The fourth week (episodes 16-20) dealt with health. The fifth week (episodes 21-25) showed simple machines, the sixth week (episodes 26-30) young scientists. The seventh week (episodes 31-35) dealt with the human body and the eighth week (episodes 36-40) with the weather. The Friday exhibitions were intended to review, reinforce and summarize the central concept of the week.

A recurring segment, "Good Laughternoon", shows children opening boards and telling jokes in a colorful playground structure. The format and the set lean heavily on the "joke wall" from Rowan & Martins Laugh-In , the moaning wall from Square One TV and the "locker jokes" from You Can't Do That . Other recurring elements are the “What's the big idea?” Section, the breakfast time where Alice or Mort teach Sid something to do with the problem, The Sid Survey, the segment where Sid May, Gerald and Gabriela Asks questions. Plus Rug Time, where Sid shows his friends and teacher something vivid about the problem, the Super Fab Lab, where the scientists set up the lab along with a live-action course (in time-lapse) in which the experiment of the day is is carried out. Playtime; When the class finished an experiment, the children either played in the classroom or in the playground. Other elements are: Sing a song with Susie on the experiment or topic; driving in the back seat with grandma; Scientist in the House! if Sid solves the problem and / or plays with his family after school; and “Sid's Super-Duper-Ooper-Schmooper Big Idea!” where Sid thinks about what he's going to do to solve a problem.
