House in the Steinhausen settlement

The Steinhausen settlement is a settlement of single-family houses built in 1932 in the Steinhausen district of Munich .

location

The Steinhausen settlement is located east of Parkstadt Bogenhausen in the corner between Weltenburger Strasse and Eggenfeldener Strasse.

construction

The settlement has an extension of about 500 m in north-south direction and about 350 m in east-west direction.

Some of the streets run in an arc from south to east, other straight streets form their cross connections. The streets are named after German rivers and low mountain ranges.

The houses stand on almost rectangular plots with a size of around 600 to 800 m 2 , the narrow side of the plots is on the street.

history

The Steinhausen settlement was established in 1932 under the name Reichskleinsiedlung Zamdorf .

The settlement was organized as a cooperative . The settlers had to work as auxiliary workers for the construction companies during the construction and later to set up a monthly rent. By keeping small animals and growing fruit and vegetables on the property, a high degree of self-sufficiency should be achieved.

Freestanding single-storey single-family houses were built with a uniform floor plan on a floor area of 7.10 m * 7.70 m. On the ground floor there was a living room with kitchen, a master bedroom, a children's bedroom and a stable for keeping small animals, and in the attic there was a hay barn above the stable and two other rooms.

The houses were built in half-timbered construction, but the half-timbered was plastered over and painted white. The outer walls of the stable were made entirely of wood.

This economical construction with the stable integrated in the house and without a laundry room, however, proved to be disadvantageous and was no longer used in later settlements. In 1936, for example, additional ventilation systems had to be installed in the houses.

The settlers have owned the houses personally since 1960.
