Infrastructure

In the Parkstadt Bogenhausen there is the elementary and middle school on Stuntzstraße with after-school care , two kindergartens and various shops. The area is accessed through Stuntzstrasse, Buschingstrasse and Gotthelfsstrasse as well as some smaller side streets. In this way, the traffic was directed around the Parkstadt and very quiet apartments were created. The Böhmerwaldplatz underground station and a bus stop are at the western end of Parkstadt on Richard-Strauss-Straße . There are no bus stops in Parkstadt itself, there is a taxi rank on the corner of Stuntzstraße and Buschingstraße.

history

The planning was done by the architect Franz Ruf . The garden architect Alfred Reich took over the garden design . The building owner was the non-profit housing association Hamburg. The foundation stone was laid on November 11, 1954. The then Mayor of Munich, Thomas Wimmer, was there .

Construction lasted from 1955 to 1956. It was the first large residential complex in Munich to be built after the end of the Second World War. The complex comprises 2,000 apartments and is designed for 6,000 residents. The apartments in the high-rise and multi-family houses are supplemented by a row house settlement in the east.

During the planning, special emphasis was placed on not exposing the apartments to traffic noise as far as possible and on optically merging the buildings into one unit. Most of the apartments are designed so that the bedroom, kitchen and dining area are accessed through the living room.

In 1967 ownership passed to Neue Heimat Bayern. In 2006, the residents of the park housing complex celebrated the 50th anniversary with a big party. Former Mayor Hans-Jochen Vogel gave the keynote address.
