The Strehlen settlement (also Post settlement ) is a settlement in the Dresden district of Strehlen . It is partly in the Strehlen district and partly in the Leubnitz-Neuostra district . The post settlement is one of the Strehlen cultural monuments .

Description and history

The settlement built between 1927 and 1928 based on plans by Paul Löffler is an example of expressionist architecture . "Expressive elements ... are characteristic of this settlement". "Ornate corner design", "narrow continuous ribbon windows" and "indented entrance areas" are further hallmarks of the architectural style.

In the Lockwitzer Strasse / Hugo-Bürkner-Strasse / Dohnaer Strasse area, eight three-storey plastered buildings were arranged in a half-open design around a courtyard with green spaces and gardens.

In January 1929 the last building was handed over by the client, the “Heimstättengesellschaft Sachsen” GmbH.

As a result of German reunification , the buildings were transferred from the legal ownership of Deutsche Post to the possession of the Deutsche Bundespost in 1990 . The German Post AG as their successors sold the building in 1991 as a cultural monument declared settlement, which they have since 1999 different owners.

In the 2000s, extensive renovation work was carried out on parts of the settlement. The following is an overview of the blocks renovated in the course of these measures:

  • Block I: Teplitzer Strasse 80, 82
