Siegfried Pabst (born December 14, 1944 in Weingarten (Baden) ) is a German entrepreneur and publisher.

Life and work

Siegfried Pabst completed his schooling in 1964 with the Abitur. From 1964 to 1969 he studied economics at the University of Heidelberg . In the early 1970s he worked for Karlsruhe Life Insurance . From 1972 to 1983 he was head of the planning staff, then the political department of the FDP and head of the planning and policy department (also press spokesman) of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation . Since 1984 he has been the publishing director, since 1997 managing partner of Universum Verlag in Wiesbaden. Since 2010 Pabst has been chairman of the supervisory board of Universum Kommunikation und Medien AG, Berlin. In 2006 he founded Pabst Media Beteiligungs GmbH. With this he is a partner of the Cicero Society for Advertising and Communication mbH in Wiesbaden and publisher of VivArt, magazine for culture and lifestyle.

Siegfried Pabst's numerous activities include (1987) the establishment of the non-profit “Arbeitsgemeinschaft Jugend und Bildung eV”, which consists of education experts from the state ministries of education and the European Parliament. She sees her goal in providing schools with advertising-free and nonetheless free information material to supplement and enrich the lessons.

In 2005 Siegfried Pabst founded the “Foundation for Youth and Education”. Its purpose is to promote the education and upbringing of the youth. The foundation wants to initiate and implement projects that promote the existing diversity of school initiatives, exchange, competition and their quality and dissemination.

Siegfried Pabst has also been a member of the Advisory Board of the Association for Safety, Health and Environmental Protection at Work since 2005 and has been its chairman since 2008, expressing his further concern for prevention and health.

There are also other voluntary activities in the media sector. From 2007 to 2011, Siegfried Pabst was a member of the board of the Southwest German Magazine Publishers Association. He is also deputy chairman of the program advisory board of Radio RPR / bigFM .

Siegfried Pabst has three children.

Honors

On July 10, 2012, Siegfried Pabst was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his decades-long commitment to education.
