The Sierra de Neiba is a mountain range in the Dominican Republic on Hispaniola .

It represents the eastern continuation of the Montagnes Noires in Haiti and extends in a southeastern direction between the Enriquillo Depression in the south and the Valle de San Juan in the north.

The Sierra de Neiba is intersected by the very water-rich Río Yaque del Sur . The eastern continuation thus separated is also known as the Sierra Martín García .

The highest point is the Loma Gajo en Medio with a height of 2279  m .

In the Sierra de Neiba there are various archaeological sites from pre-Columbian times, including the Las Caritas site near Postrer Río near Lake Enriquillo .

The Sierra de Neiba is poorly developed. The agriculturally suitable areas are mainly cultivated by small farmers who grow fruit, vegetables, bananas and coffee.

Infrastructure

The approximately 50 km long pass road Carretera 47 leads from La Descubierta in the Enriquillo Depression via Angel Félix near the border to Haiti over the ridge into the valley of the Río Caña to Hondo Valle and further into the Valle de San Juan .
