Example of a signal location plan

The signal map shows the individual components of a traffic light system at intersections to scale. In addition to the signal masts with the associated signal transmitters, traffic signs , including lane markings , are also shown. When planning traffic lights, drafting a signal map is an important step, as it is used to calculate the intermediate times .

Components

The intersection arms (roadways and sidewalks or cycle paths) from the building draft as well as traffic islands and other structural separations are on the signal map . The plan also includes the signal masts with the signal generators and their names. In addition, there are locations of control devices and switch boxes, induction loops , reporting points and detectors. When displaying the signals, information about the size and the signal aspect must be given. It can also be described whether a signal receives a contrast screen or a blind signal . Relevant signage and lane markings are also shown on the map.
