Signorino Cross after the renovation

The Signorino Cross is a sandstone cross with a bronze crucifix in Oberursel . As a cultural monument, it is under monument protection.

Maria Josepha Signorino had the wayside cross built in 1818. She was the granddaughter and last descendant of the spice trader Remigius Joseph Signorino. He came from Ticino and became a citizen of Oberursel in 1717.

The cross is made of red Main sandstone and bears the inscription:

"Maria Josepha Signorino
zu Oberursel had
this cross erected
in 1818"

In September 2013 there was a car accident in which a car severely damaged the cross. With a workload of 170 hours, the cross was repaired by master stonemason Ulrich Fritz. In February 2016 the cross could be erected again.

All steel reinforcements and bands, as well as the damaged bronze Jesus figure, were repaired and revised by the metal manufacturer Dirk Velte from Oberursel.
