Silver shoe

The Silver Shoe is an award for courageously taking up xenophobia and discrimination. The prize has been awarded since 2004 by the Solingen Alliance for Tolerance and Moral Courage , which was founded on November 9, 2000 - the anniversary of the Reichspogromnacht - under the impression of the Solingen assassination attempt .

Award winners

  • 2013: Heinz Siering, founder and head of the youth welfare workshop, Heinz Siering, as well as the initiator and creator of the memorial at the Mildred Scheel School. The Solingen alliance "Colorful instead of brown" receives a certificate of honor
  • 2012: Uli Preuss, for his commitment in the war for injured children in Friedensdorf International; Special award to Werner Böwing , pacifist and trade unionist, for his life's work for peace and against all forms of militarism and for his commitment in Solingen
  • 2011: Working group White Rose of the Geschwister-Scholl-Comprehensive School Solingen
  • 2010: Hasan Özkan, who, as imam of the Ditib mosque, was particularly committed to the young people in Solingen-Wald and to the successful move of the Ditib mosque to the center of Solingen-Wald
