Silchester is a village in Hampshire in the south of England with 918 inhabitants (2001). It is north of Basingstoke . The Romans built Calleva Atrebatum near here .

There is a primary school in the village. In order to attend a secondary school, the schoolchildren have to go to a neighboring village.
