Kiera Victoria Chaplin (born July 1, 1982 in Belfast , Northern Ireland ) is a British model and actress . She grew up in Corsier-sur-Vevey in Switzerland , lived in Los Angeles and since 2007 in New York.

Life

The daughter of Eugene Chaplin and granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin posed for well-known magazines such as Vogue , Elle , Vanity Fair , Town & Country , People , GQ , Maxim , CosmoGirl and Lucky and was featured in the 2002 Pirelli calendar . In addition to her work as a model, Chaplin is also a film actress and producer. She has been in films such as The Importance of Being Earnest (2002), the Bollywood productions Yatna (2005) and Chaurahen, The Aimee Semple McPherson Story (2006), the Peter Fonda film Japan (2008) and the Italian drama Interno Giorno by To see Tommaso Rossellini (2011).

Chaplin was chairman of the board of directors until 2006 and held a 30 percent stake in the production and distribution company Limelight Films, Inc. in Hollywood.

In the Sunday Times Rich List in 2012 its assets were estimated at 36 million €.

Chaplin uses her notoriety to stand up for the rights of women and children. Since March 2019 she has been President of the Fondation Fleur du Désert in Paris, founded by human rights activist, model and bestselling author Waris Dirie . On January 10, 2020, Chaplin opened the first Kiera Chaplin Desert Flower School for 400 children in Sierra Leone (West Africa).
