academic career

Silja Graupe received her doctorate in 2005 on the subject of “The place of economic thinking. The Methodology of Economics in the Light of Japanese Philosophy ”. From 2009 to 2014 she taught, initially as a junior professor in the educational sciences department, and later as a professor in the economics department, at the Alanus University for Art and Society in Alfter near Bonn. Since February 2014 she has been a member of the executive committee of the Cusanus University . She is also a founding member and deputy spokesperson for the board of the Society for Socio-Economic Education and Science.

Criticism of mainstream economic thinking

In research and teaching, Graupe advocates the point of view that the economy is currently dominated by an intellectual monoculture , i. H. is permeated by dogmatic mainstream thinking (especially neoclassical ) and consciously or unconsciously shapes our living environment. This intellectual monoculture is based on assumptions which, however , are to be questioned to a large extent from an epistemological , empirical or normative perspective, such as homo oeconomicus , human capital and the like. Self-criticism and multiple perspectives are therefore extremely important for the current economy.
