Sima Liang
Sima Liang (* after 232; † May 291 ) was a Chinese prince of the western Jin dynasty . He was the first of the eight princes who fought against each other for power in ancient China in the War of the Eight Princes .
Life
Sima Liang was a younger son of the strategist and politician Sima Yi and the uncle of the first Emperor of Jin, Jin Wudi . Sima Liang was Prince of Runan and had his princely seat in Xuchang City . At the end of April 291 he was appointed Prime Minister (taizai) of China. Sima Liang only held this office for a few weeks; at the end of May of the same year he fell victim to an attempted coup by his relative Sima Wei . In the sources Sima Liang is counted among the eight princes, although the actual military clashes of this so-called conflict did not begin until the year 300.
