Simon II (Zweibrücken)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simon von Zweibrücken († 1311 or 1312) was Count of Zweibrücken . He ruled from 1308 to 1311/1312.

Simon was the eldest son of Count Walram I and his wife Agnes von Vaudemont. He was married to Agnes von Saarbrücken, who died before 1337. Simon himself passed away between autumn 1311 and summer 1312. The couple had two children:

  • Walram (around 1298–1366), succeeded Simon as Count von Zweibrücken, ∞ Renata Johanna Countess von Bar
  • Agnes, ∞ Ludwig von Kirkel

Little is known of Count Simon's short reign. Since his son Walram was very young at the time of the Count's death, Simon's widow Agnes von Saarbrücken acted as regent until around 1327.
