Simon Lainberger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simon Lainberger (* unknown; † before January 30, 1503 in Nuremberg ) was a late Gothic image carver .

His work is documented in Nuremberg from 1478. A unique collaboration with the Nördlingen painter Friedrich Herlin can be proven. So far there is not a single work that can be plausibly associated with Lainberger. Nevertheless, attempts were made again and again to ascribe entire groups of works to him; Even the attribution of St. Peter's in St. Sebald (Nuremberg) given in the NDB by Hans Ramisch is now considered speculative.
