Simon from Bures

Simon von Bures (* before 1119, † after 1154 / before 1158) was Prince of Galilee in the Kingdom of Jerusalem between 1148/50 and 1153 . As such he was also called Simon of Tiberias ( Latin : Symon Tiberiadensis ).

He was the son of the French crusader Gottfried von Bures . He was a nephew of Wilhelm von Bures , who had been Prince of Galilee since 1119, but was deposed after the death of King Fulkos in 1143. After the death of Prince Elinand of Galilee, Simon took over the principality from the rights of his exiled uncle until his uncle could return from exile after the death of Queen Melisende . In 1153 he took as a vassal of King Baldwin III. participated in the successful siege of Askalon .
