Simone Aaberg Kaern (* 1969 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish artist and aviator.
Life and projects
education
Simone Aaberg Kaern studied at Goldsmiths College of Fine Art in London and at the Art Academy in Copenhagen . She acquired the private pilot license and the authorization for aerobatics .
Movies
In 2002, still under the influence of the attacks in New York on September 11, 2001 , she flew with Magnus Bejmar (camera) in a single-engine airplane from Copenhagen to Kabul , Afghanistan , to fulfill a 16-year-old girl's dream of flying . The action was captured in the documentary "Smiling in a War Zone" (2005, German "50 hours to Kabul"). The film won the “best portrays women in leadership” award at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in April 2006.
