Sinnen und Minnen is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 435). The work was performed for the first time on October 21, 1888 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The waltz was premiered on the occasion of one of the Sunday concerts directed by Eduard Strauss . It is a symphonic waltz d. H. the structure of the work is symphonic. These symphonic waltzes , which are also known as the composer's age waltzes , were created during a creative phase that lasted roughly from 1888 to 1892. A direct relationship between the title and the musical content is not discernible. The name has to do with the Romanian Queen Elisabeth (1843-1916), to whom the waltz was dedicated. The queen, who was also friends with the Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary , also worked as a writer and wrote poetry, among other things. Hence the name Sinnen und Minnen explains . The work did not find a great response at the time. Today it is one of the composer's main works.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 7 minutes and 46 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
