The Siple Dome is a 10,000 km 2 large ice dome in Marie-Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It rises 130 km east of the Siple coast . The American geophysicist Charles Bentley and the British glaciologist Robert H. Thomas (1937–2015) took measurements of ice movement here between 1973 and 1974. They named the ice dome based on the naming of the adjacent coast after the American Antarctic explorer Paul Siple (1908–1968).
