Sitecore is a Danish company specializing in customer experience management , which offers software for web content management and multichannel marketing automation . The company was founded in 2001 in Denmark.

Company formation

In 1998 the Danish programmers (former students of the University of Copenhagen , Denmark ) Thomas Albert, Jakob and Peter Christensen, Ole Sas Thrane and the current managing director of Sitecore Michael Seifert founded a company that dealt with system integration. The main focus was on those websites that were implemented or built with the help of Microsoft technologies . At the time, building and managing websites required the know-how of a programmer or developer. Ole Sas Thrane and Jakob Christensen developed a number of methods to automate these processes and decided to create a marketable product that would today be classified as a web content management system.

In 2001, Sitecore was spun off as a separate business area and initially sold content management systems on the Danish market for IT departments. This business area subsequently developed into a global provider of customer experience management software, which primarily targets corporate marketing departments and marketing service providers.

2015: Part of the Sitecore company moved to Marina Plaza in Sausalito, California, USA.
