A sitio in the Philippines is a territorial enclave that forms part of a barangay , but can sometimes be significantly removed from the actual center of the barangay. These are, for example, separate living spaces without any administrative relevance. During the Spanish colonial era , Sitios were named in order to manage them centrally as part of the barangay system.
