history

After the real estate company Vasakronan had set up a boat shuttle service for its tenants on weekdays between the islands of Kvarnholm and Lidingö and to the Nybroplan jetty in Stockholm city center for several years, this was integrated into the tariff system of the Stockholm local transport company Storstockholms Lokaltrafik as part of a pilot project in autumn 2010 significantly expanded. After around half of the four-month duration of the pilot project, the number of passengers had risen by 60 percent, which is why the project was extended until August 2011. After further extensions, during which a public tender was held, Sjövägen was finally officially inaugurated on May 6, 2013 as a regular local transport service.

During the private operation by Vasakronan from 1999, the ballerina , built in 1973, was mainly used. She has been traveling on the Ropsten – Storholmen – Tranholmen route since 2014 and only occasionally on Sjövägen.

After several name changes, it was given the name Gurli in 1897 . In 1964 it was converted to diesel operation. Gurli has been operating on Sjövägen since 2012. Sjövägen

Sjövägen

Sjövägen was built specifically for operation on Sjövägen and put into service in 2014. It is the first battery-electric passenger ferry in the regular service of Stockholm's Lokaltrafik. Its two electric motors, each with an output of 125 kW, are fed by lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 500 kWh. The capacity is sufficient for about five hours of driving without recharging. During the stay at the Nybroplan, recharging is carried out if necessary, otherwise the batteries are fully charged during the nightly shutdown. A diesel-powered generator is only on board for emergencies.
