Skirnir is Freyr's friend and servant in Norse mythology . In Jötunheim he advertises the giant Gerda in the name of Freyr . As a reward for this he receives Freyr's sword and horse.

Skirnir is regarded by the gods as a reliable vassal and is sent to other worlds with messages or orders.

Skirnir, on behalf of Odin , is once again sent to the dwarves in Schwarzalbenheim to fetch the indestructible chain Gleipnir to bind the Fenriswolf .
