Litlibær on Skötufjörður |
The Skötufjörður ( Icelandic Rochenfjord ) is an almost uninhabited fjord in the Westfjords of Iceland .
It is located in Ísafjarðardjúp between Hestfjörður and Mjóifjörður and is only 1.5 kilometers wide, but extends up to 18 kilometers into the country. The paved Djúpvegur runs around the fjord for a length of 32 kilometers. There is no village on the fjord banks and only one inhabited farm, Hvítanes. The residents of there run a small, simple restaurant for travelers on the Litlibær farm in Skötufirði on the west bank. Litlibær was built in 1895, was inhabited until 1969 and has now been renovated by the National Museum .
