Skarface
Skarface is a French ska band that was formed in 1991.
Surname
The name of the band is derived from the English "Scarface" ( German scar face ) and is an allusion to the music genre of Ska. However, the name is also an allusion to the mafia film Scarface in order to tie in with the mafia image of the 1980s Skawelle.
music
Skarface's lyrics are about human values, respect and compassion and speak a clear language against violence. The band describes itself as apolitical. But due to the fact that some members of the band are skinheads , the band was often rejected, but on closer inspection and closer listening it seems downright nonsensical.
After more than eleven albums and dozens of compilations, the band is still active today and gives concerts all over the world (e.g. China, Russia, Greece, Japan, USA, Canada and Europe).
Others
The title of the album "Skankuat Nec Mergitur" is a modification of the sentence "fluctuat nec mergitur" (Latin for "it swims, but does not sink"). This sentence is written under the ship, which is the emblem of the French capital Paris. The modification should allude to the fact that Skarface is still in the music business with all its glory and strength after so many albums.
