Skeleton Sea

Skelton Sea is a group of artists from Portugal who create sculptures from plastic garbage that washes up on the beach.

João Parrinha, Luis de Dios and Isabell and Alexander Kreuzeder (stage names Isa and Xandi) became aware of the problem of plastic waste in the oceans around 2005 as windsurfers . They want to draw people's attention to marine pollution by plastic through installations that are made from the washed-up plastic waste.

The installations are usually created directly on the beach. The group is based in Ericeira on the Portuguese Atlantic coast .

Many of the sculptures created by the artist group have a maritime background. a. Fish, seabirds, octopuses and mermaids.

So far (as of February 2020) around 50 works have been created. The group also offers environmental protection projects and organizes beach cleanings.
